1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Organic Chemistry AI, also shown as OrgChem AI ("we," "our," or "us"), developed and operated by TQ Tech, collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile applications, this website, and related services. We are committed to handling data transparently in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

The app helps organic chemistry students scan or type a problem, receive a step-by-step solution, ask an AI tutor, and study with bundled calculators, quizzes, flashcards, a formula reference, a reaction-mechanism library, and a functional-group cheat sheet.

We have ABSOLUTELY NO LIABILITY for any academic, professional, or personal consequences resulting from your use of this app. You use this app at your own risk and discretion. We are not responsible for anything whatsoever. AI output may be incomplete, incorrect, or misleading. Always verify results with your own work, your textbook, and your instructor before relying on them for homework, exams, or any other purpose.

2. Information We Collect

Organic Chemistry AI has no account and no sign-up. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location in order to use the app. The categories below describe what is processed when you choose to use a feature.

2.1 Information you provide directly

• Organic chemistry problems. Text you type, a topic hint you add, and photos of printed or handwritten problems, skeletal structures, or reaction schemes that you submit for solving.
• Tutor interactions. Messages you send to the AI tutor, including Tutor, Explain Assignment, and Check My Homework modes, plus any photo or text you attach so the tutor can see the question.
• AI flashcards from a solve (Pro). If you ask the app to generate flashcards from a solution, the relevant solve content is sent so a deck can be created. That deck is then stored on your device.
• Onboarding answers. Your goal (for example homework help or exam prep), the difficulties you select, and your study level (High School, College, or Graduate). These stay on your device. Study level is also sent with solve and tutor requests so explanations can be pitched appropriately.
• Quiz answers and flashcard progress. Bundled quizzes and flashcards run on your device. Your answers, scores, and study progress are stored locally, not on our servers.
• Calculator and explorer inputs. Values you enter into the eight calculators, the live pH explorer, and the degree-of-unsaturation explorer stay on your device. Those tools do not need a network connection.
• Support and issue reports. Email you send to support, and in-app "Report" submissions. A report may include the screen you were on, an error code, the message shown in the app, app version, device model and OS, whether you have Pro, an optional category, and an optional note you type. Reports do not include your photo, problem text, or tutor transcript.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Anonymous device identifier. A random UUID created on your device and stored in encrypted local storage. It is sent as a device id so we can count the three free solves, apply rate limits, and restore Pro status. It is not an advertising identifier, it is not your name or email, and it is not sold.
• Free-solve counter. How many of the three free solves (shared by solving and tutor replies) have been used on this device. Stored on the device and mirrored on our backend against the anonymous device id. The onboarding demo solve does not count.
• Pro / subscription status. Whether the pro entitlement is active, so the app can unlock unlimited solving, tutor replies, and AI flashcards from a solve.
• Device and app information in reports. Manufacturer, model, OS version, and app version, only when you send a report or we need to diagnose a failure you asked us to look at.
• Android analytics (aggregate). The Android app includes Google Firebase Analytics for coarse usage events such as starting, answering, or finishing a bundled quiz. Problem text, photos, tutor messages, and full device ids are not sent to analytics. The iOS app does not include that analytics SDK.
• Runtime configuration. The app may fetch feature flags (for example whether solving, scan, tutor, or AI flashcards are temporarily off) from our backend. That request uses the same anonymous device id and does not include your coursework.

2.3 What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address (unless you email us), postal address, phone number, precise or coarse location, contacts, calendar, health data, financial account numbers, SMS, browsing history, the list of other apps on your device, or advertising identifiers. There is no advertising in the app and no advertising SDK. We do not create an account for you.

2.4 Camera, photos, and storage

Camera. We request camera permission only so you can scan a printed or handwritten organic chemistry problem. Permission is optional. If you deny it, you can still type a problem and pick an existing image. Camera access is requested when you open Scan (including during onboarding if you tap Allow Camera). You can revoke it in system settings at any time.

• Photos are captured in the app, cropped on your device, and sent over HTTPS so a solution can be generated.
• We do not store your photos on our servers after the request completes.
• A thumbnail may be saved in your on-device solve history so you can open that solve later. You can delete history in the app. Uninstalling the app or clearing app data removes it.

Photo library. Importing an existing picture uses the system photo picker. You choose one image. The app does not receive access to your whole library and does not scan your camera roll in the background.

Storage. We do not request a broad storage or files permission. History, preferences, and study progress are written to the app's own private storage on your device.

Internet. Solving, tutoring, AI flashcards from a solve, restoring purchases, fetching feature flags, sending a report, and Play/App Store services need a network connection. Calculators, the visualizer, formula reference, bundled quizzes, bundled flashcards, the mechanism library, and the functional-group cheat sheet work offline.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above only for these purposes:

• Organic chemistry problem solving. Sending your problem (text and/or image) and study level to third-party AI services through our backend so we can return a step-by-step solution, reaction type, and final answer.
• AI tutoring. Sending your tutor messages (and any attached image) so the tutor can explain, unpack an assignment, or check work you typed.
• AI flashcards from a solve. Generating a study deck from a solution for Pro users, then saving that deck on the device.
• Free-solve and abuse limits. Enforcing the three free solves per device and blocking automated or abusive traffic.
• Subscriptions. Checking Pro status via RevenueCat and the app store so paid features unlock and Restore Purchases works.
• On-device study tools. Running calculators, quizzes, flashcards, formula reference, mechanism library, and the cheat sheet locally.
• Personalization on device. Remembering appearance (System / Light / Dark), study level, and onboarding answers.
• App improvement (Android). Aggregate Firebase Analytics events that do not include coursework.
• Support. Reading email and in-app reports you send, so we can fix bugs and answer questions.
• Legal compliance. Meeting app-store rules, tax/accounting obligations on the store's side, and applicable law.

4. Third-Party Services

We integrate with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy and terms. We are not responsible for their data practices.

4.1 Third-party AI services

When you solve a problem, message the tutor, run the onboarding demo solve, or generate AI flashcards from a solve, your submission is sent over HTTPS to our backend and then to third-party AI services that produce the text you see. We do not name those providers or their model identifiers in this policy because they may change. Those providers may temporarily process your prompt (problem text, image, tutor thread, or flashcard request) according to their own policies. We do not store your photos on our servers. We cannot control how long a third-party AI service retains a request on its side.

You acknowledge that AI output can be wrong. We have no liability for incorrect mechanisms, products, names, or tutoring advice.

4.2 Our backend and hosting

Solve, tutor, flashcard, quota, config, and report requests go to our backend (hosted on cloud infrastructure). Requests use HTTPS. The backend sees the problem content needed to answer you, your study level, the anonymous device id, an app token that only identifies the official app, and an optional Pro flag. Photos are not kept on our servers after the request finishes. Quota counters tied to the anonymous device id are kept so free-solve limits work if you reinstall.

4.3 RevenueCat and subscriptions

We use RevenueCat to manage Pro subscriptions and Restore Purchases. When you subscribe:

• Payment processing. Apple App Store or Google Play processes the payment. We never see your card number, Play balance, or Apple ID password.
• Subscription data. RevenueCat processes subscription status, product identifiers, and purchase/restore events so the app can unlock Pro.
• User identification. RevenueCat may assign a subscriber id so Pro can restore on the same store account.

Subscription plan details (no free trial exists):

• Weekly subscription. No free trial. Billing begins when you subscribe, then renews weekly unless you cancel.
• Yearly subscription. No free trial. Billing begins when you subscribe, then renews yearly unless you cancel.
• Three free solves. You can use three full solves (solving and tutor replies share this allowance) without paying. After that, Solve and sending a tutor message open the paywall. Calculators, quizzes, bundled flashcards, formula reference, the mechanism library, the cheat sheet, and the visualizer stay free.
• Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew unless you cancel in your Apple or Google account at least 24 hours before the period ends.
• Restore Purchases. Available on the paywall and in Settings. Use it after reinstalling or changing phones.
• Prices. Shown in the app from the store's localized price strings. This policy does not list prices.

4.4 Apple, Google Play, and store services

Depending on your platform, Apple or Google may process installation, payments, Restore Purchases, in-app review prompts, and in-app updates. Those activities are governed by Apple's or Google's privacy policies. The Android app may use Play In-App Review and Play In-App Updates (flexible download). Those services do not receive your chemistry problems.

4.5 Analytics (Android)

Firebase Analytics (Google) may receive anonymous usage events such as quiz started / answered / completed. It is not used to build an advertising profile. No photos, problem text, or tutor transcripts are sent to it. See Google's Firebase privacy information.

4.6 This website

This marketing site is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising scripts, embeds no third-party fonts or trackers, and loads assets from its own domain.

4.7 Third-party disclaimer

ABSOLUTE THIRD-PARTY DISCLAIMER: We provide links to third-party privacy policies for your convenience, but we do not control these external services and have ABSOLUTELY NO LIABILITY for their privacy practices, security measures, or data handling. You use third-party services at your own risk. We are not responsible for anything whatsoever related to third-party services.

5. Data Storage and Security

• Local storage. Solve history, solution text, optional photo thumbnails, onboarding answers, appearance, free-solve count, quiz/flashcard progress, and saved AI decks live on your device.
• Encrypted device id. The anonymous device UUID is stored in encrypted preferences on Android (and equivalent protected storage on iOS).
• Transit. Network calls to our backend use HTTPS. Play Data Safety is answered as encrypted in transit.
• No photo archive on our servers. We do not keep a server-side library of your scanned problems.
• Third-party processing. AI providers and store/subscription vendors may process data under their own security programs, which we do not control.

ABSOLUTE SECURITY DISCLAIMER: No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the security of data while it is processed by third parties. We have ABSOLUTELY NO LIABILITY for unauthorized access, data breaches, or security incidents. You provide information at your own risk. We are not responsible for anything whatsoever related to data security.

6. Data Retention

• Problems and photos on our servers. Not retained as a history after the request completes.
• AI providers. May retain prompts temporarily under their own policies. We have no control over those policies.
• Free-solve quota. A count tied to the anonymous device id is kept so the three-solve limit still works after reinstall.
• Issue reports. Kept long enough to investigate what you reported, then discarded in the ordinary course of operations. They do not include your homework photos or full problem text.
• Analytics (Android). Retained by Google according to Firebase's retention settings.
• Subscriptions. Retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat as needed to bill, restore, and comply with store rules.
• On-device data. Remains until you delete items in the app, clear app data, or uninstall.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Access. Ask us what categories we process. Most of it is already visible on your device (history, settings).
• Deletion. Delete solves in History, clear app data, or uninstall. Email us if you want us to delete a support email or issue report you sent. Store purchases are managed in your Apple or Google account.
• Correction. Change study level, appearance, and other settings in the app.
• Camera / photos. Deny or revoke camera permission; keep using type-in and the photo picker, or neither.
• Analytics (Android). You can limit ad/analytics tracking using your device's Google settings where the OS allows it.
• Subscriptions. Cancel or restore in the App Store or Play Store. Restore Purchases is in the app.
• Opt-out of the app. Stop using it and uninstall it.

Because there is no user account, we do not hold a profile we can "download" the way a social network would. If you email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Policy Inquiry," we will help with any request we can actually fulfill.

8. Children's Privacy

The app is an educational tool for organic chemistry students and is listed for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have received information from a child under 13, contact us immediately and we will delete what we can. Parents and schools remain responsible for how students use study aids and for academic-integrity rules.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including countries where our backend host, AI providers, Apple, Google, and RevenueCat operate. By using the app you understand that this processing is required to deliver solving, tutoring, and subscriptions. We have ABSOLUTELY NO LIABILITY for the laws or practices of those other countries.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page and change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may also appear in the app's store listing or release notes. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, our legal bases include:

• Consent. Optional camera access; optional analytics where the platform treats it as consent-based.
• Contract. Providing the solving, tutoring, and Pro features you request.
• Legitimate interest. Rate limiting, fraud/abuse prevention, fixing bugs you report, and improving the Android app with aggregate events that exclude coursework.
• Legal obligation. Compliance with applicable laws and app-store requirements.

13. Limitation of Liability

ABSOLUTE ZERO LIABILITY — TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

• WE SHALL HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR ANY DAMAGES, LOSSES, OR CLAIMS OF ANY KIND.

ABSOLUTE INDEMNIFICATION: You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TQ Tech and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of the App; (b) your violation of this policy or the terms of use; (c) your violation of any rights of another; (d) any content you submit (photos, problem text, tutor messages, reports); (e) any academic, professional, or personal consequences of using the App; (f) any reliance on the App's output; (g) any decisions made based on the App's output; (h) any errors or incorrect solutions from AI services; (i) any third-party actions or omissions; (j) any data or security incidents; (k) any technical issues; (l) any loss of data or profits; (m) any personal injury or property damage; (n) any privacy or data-protection claims; (o) any intellectual property infringement; (p) any academic-integrity investigation; (q) any negligence or misconduct; (r) any force majeure events; (s) any other matter whatsoever related to your use of the App.

15. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy and any disputes arising out of or related to it shall be governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the maximum extent permitted. Nothing in this section requires us to accept jurisdiction we are not otherwise subject to. You agree that any dispute will be brought only in an individual capacity, not as a class action, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

16. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to delete personal information we hold, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use advertising identifiers.
